‘Last Generation’
Rev 3:18 “I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in
the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that
the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with
eye salve, that you may see.”
Our Lord Jesus
admonished the spiritual leaders who gave more honour to gold than the things
of God. These are worldly and covetous Christians who serve mammon instead of
God.
They walk only by
sight and not by faith. So brethren be free from the bondage of money and live
by faith, which is more precious than gold.
Mat 23:16-17 “Woe to you, blind guides, who say, ‘Whoever
swears by the temple, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gold of the
temple, he is obliged to perform it.’ Fools and blind! For which is greater,
the gold or the temple that sanctifies the gold?”
1 Pet 1:6-7 In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a
little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the
genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes,
though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the
revelation of Jesus Christ,
2 Pet 1:5-7 But also for this very reason, giving all diligence,
add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control
perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and
to brotherly kindness love.
Virtue is walking
out our belief or principle. If we believe that Jesus is our Provider then
don’t beg, and if Jesus is our Healer, then trust Him completely, and only then
we can know the truth (knowledge of His word). After having the truth (been set
free), we can have self-control (overcome our lusts and pride).
After having
self-control, we will be able to endure great pains for righteousness sake.
After having perseverance, we can be like our Lord (godliness) – full of mercy,
forgiveness, compassion, etc. After having godliness, we can truly love our
brethren and after having this brotherly love, we will be able to love our
enemies and only then is our love perfected.
2 Pet 1:8 For if these things are yours and abound, you
will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus
Christ.
2 Pet 1:9 For he who lacks these things is
shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from
his old sins.
These things found
in 2 Pet 1:5-7 are the eye salve, which the rich and blind endtime churches
must purchase with all the wealth they possessed. When we have this eye salve, we
will be enlightened and have the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ, otherwise
we will be short sighted or blind.
Note: - ‘confessing old sins’ (i.e. sins before
salvation) is heresy.
We thank our loving Father that He has freely given to each
of us every good thing for our joy and benefit. He has also shown us the way to
perfection and most importantly the entrance into the kingdom of Christ.
2 Pet 1:10-11 Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent
to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never
stumble; for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the
everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
