Lazarus - Beloved Of Jesus (LG44)

Mark 10:19-21a  You know the commandments: ‘Do not commit adultery,’ ‘Do not murder,’ ‘Do not steal,’ ‘Do not bear false witness,’ ‘Do not defraud,’ ‘Honor your father and your mother.’” And he answered and said to Him, “Teacher, all these things I kept from my youth.” Then Jesus, looking at him, loved him,

John 14:21  He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he3 who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.”

John 14:23-24  Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father’s who sent Me.

God is just and righteous and can only love a Christian who keeps His word and commandments.

John 11:5  Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus

So Lazarus must have loved the Lord by keeping and obeying His word and commandments and this may be the reason of God giving him this new resurrected life which glorified Him.

John 11:44  And he who had died came out bound hand and foot with grave clothes, and his face was wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Loose him, and let him go.”

Lazarus died (flesh crucified) but he was resurrected to a new life by our Lord. Lazarus means 'God is my help'. Similarly, every Christian with the empowering of the Holy Spirit must crucify the flesh or the old man (who is carnal, wicked, covetous, worldly, rebellious, lustful, sinful, etc.) and live a holy, joyful and powerful but humble resurrected life that glorifies God.

John 12:10-11  But the chief priests plotted to put Lazarus to death also, because on account of him many of the Jews went away and believed in Jesus.

Similarly, all those unrepented, misled, worldly, carnal, depraved, covetous, powerful and rich Christians, pastors and Christian leaders will persecute and exclude faithful, godly, and bible believing Christians who love the Lord.

James 1:12  Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.
