Lazarus - Persecuted Servant (LG46)

Luke 16:20-21  But there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, full of sores, who was laid at his gate, desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table. Moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.

To run missions and charitable homes requires a lot of finance, so God laid Lazarus at the gate of the rich man's house, whom God had made a steward of His wealth. God used Lazarus in such sorrowful, painful, and miserable conditions to stir up the rich man's compassion so that God can reward him as a faithful steward.

 Who are the dogs?

2 Pet 2:12,14,21-22  But these, like natural brute beasts made to be caught and destroyed, speak evil of the things they do not understand, and will utterly perish in their own corruption.... having eyes full of adultery and that cannot cease from sin, enticing unstable souls. They have a heart trained in covetous practices, and are accursed children... For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them. But it has happened to them according to the true proverb: “A dog returns to his own vomit,” and, “a sow, having washed, to her wallowing in the mire.”

Rev 22:15  But outside are dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie.

From the above verses, a dog is a fallen Christian (just as the fallen angels), who had gone back to his old ways. These dogs know the word of God but not truth. They are carnal and have become liars, hypocrites and are 'wolves in sheepskins'.

Jude 1:16  These are grumblers, complainers, walking according to their own lusts; and they mouth great swelling words, flattering people to gain advantage.

Moreover the dogs came and licked his sores

These dogs will cause Lazarus to suffer more by their persecutions with lies. false accusations and condemnations thus preventing financial help from the rich man.

Mat 23:13  “But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut up the kingdom of heaven against men; for you neither go in yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in.

Today, depraved pastors and church leaders, who surround rich men are dogs for with their lies, false testimonies and accusations, they have prevented the rich congregations from releasing God's money into mission and charity. They have caused rich men to look at Lazarus, God's faithful servant whom God has sent to bless them, to be a beggar and waiting to rob them of their money.
Brethren. for your own salvation, beware of these hypocrites for they will lead you into Hell.

Phi 3:2  Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the mutilation!
